Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting

Talk about delectable…this is it! Rich and velvety smooth, filled with chocolatey goodness. Dress up any cake with this “not too sweet” frosting. Try it on banana bread for a real treat! This makes enough frosting to generously cover a 9×13 inch cake.

Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons butter, room temperature

  • 2 1/3 cups powdered sugar

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1/3 cup whole milk

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

  • Place softened butter in a bowl and beat with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth.
  • Add the powdered sugar, cocoa and salt, and beat until combined.
  • With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the milk and vanilla extract. Beat for 2 minutes.
  • With the beater at high speed, beat the frosting for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Frost cake and refrigerate until ready to serve.
