About Grandma Diane

Hi Folks,

I’m Diane, from www.grandmadianeskitchen.com, and I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  I am number seven of 10 children. We spent most of our time gathered around the kitchen table, whether it was cooking, eating, playing card games, doing homework or socializing with the neighborhood kids. One of my favorite tasks as a young child was to grate the potatoes for potato pancakes. Can you imagine how many pounds of potatoes it took to feed 12 hungry people?  We topped off those pancakes with peaches or plums that we helped Mom can (preserve). Maybe that’s where I got my love for cooking.

I am the proud mother of three and grandmother of three of the cutest little girls on earth and one little heavenly angel. I look forward to the day I can bake cookies with them and any other grandbabies I may be blessed with.

Fast forward 60+ years. It was time for me to retire and honestly, I didn’t adapt too well. My son suggested I start a website to share my recipes and thus meet people with the same interests. He surprised me by creating a site for me and called it grandmadianeskitchen.com.

My Mom died when I was 17, and although I have some of her recipes, most of them were not written down and were therefore “lost”. I guess that’s why I feel it is so important to share recipes with family and friends.

I am not a professional chef…just an everyday cook that likes good food. Some of my recipes are old family recipes and many are ones that either friends shared, or I found on the web or in cookbooks. Each recipe I post will give recognition to whoever I got the recipe from, provided I can remember. I usually change the recipes a dab to suit my family’s tastes and I encourage you to do the same. Don’t be afraid to experiment a little.

This site is a work in progress. I am always trying new dishes and if I come across a “keeper”, I’ll post it. Many of the recipes I have posted don’t currently have photos, but as I prepare those dishes, I will try to remember to take a picture and post it.

I look forward to any and all comments and hope that you find a few recipes that your family will enjoy as much as mine does.

Happy cooking and baking,

Grandma Diane
