Spritz Cookies

Buttery goodness is the only way to describe this tender, delicate cookie with a hint of almond flavor, topped with a candied cherry. Yum!!

Spritz Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

  • 2½ cup flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

  • Candied Cherries (Optional)

Directions

  • Cream butter.
  • Add sugar and cream again.
  • Beat in the egg and extract.
  • Add the dry ingredients.
  • Chill dough for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Force dough through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • If desired, press half of a candied cherry in the center of each cookie
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • 10.Remove from cookie sheet to a cooling rack to cool.
  • Makes 6 dozen cookies
