For years I had lived in an apartment complex where BBQ grills were not allowed. I missed having BBQ chicken. Then I came across this tasty, tangy recipe in an old Hunt’s recipe book . The chicken is browned and then simmered in a delicious sauce, leaving you with tender, juicy, flavorful chicken.

2 ½ lbs. chicken pieces
¼ cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
3 Tablespoons oil
8 ounces tomato sauce
¼ cup chopped onion
½ cup water
2 Tablespoons vinegar
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon salt
Directions
- Mix flour, salt and pepper in a bag.
- Place chicken pieces in bag to coat with the flour mixture.
- Shake off excess flour.
- In skillet, brown chicken in oil; over medium heat.
- Pour off the fat.
- Combine the tomato sauce, onion, water, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pour of the chicken.
- Cover skillet and simmer for 45 minutes or until chicken is tender, basting the chicken every 15 minutes.
