My sister-in-law Mary would make a jar of this sauce and when I would go to visit, I would bring ice cream. As soon as I walked in the door, she would warm up some of this chocolate sauce to drizzle over the ice cream. How she stayed so slim & trim I do not know, ’cause Mary sure could cook as you’ll discover once you taste this gooey treat!
Hot Fudge Sauce

1 cup sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 cup light corn syrup
½ cup half and half
¼ teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Combine the first 6 ingredients in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full, rolling boil. Boil mixture hard for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat.
- Add vanilla.
- Cool slightly, cover and refrigerate.
- May serve hot or cold. Makes 2 cups.
