This buttery, chewy, nutty and downright delicious bar cookie is one of the best bar cookies I have ever eaten. With just the right amount of chocolate and caramel, it’s sure to please even the fussiest of cookie critics!
Oatmeal Carmelites

32 Kraft caramels
5 Tablespoons cream (half & half)
1 cup flour
1c. quick oats
¾ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a double boiler, melt the 32 caramels with the cream. Set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and butter mixing wel.
- Press ¾ of the mixture into a 9×13 inch pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle on the chocolate chips and then the nuts
- Pour the caramel mixture on top, spreading evenly.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the caramel.
- Return to oven and bake for 20 minutes.
- 10.Cool for one hour and cut into small bars.
