Years ago, I was visiting a friend and her Grandma , who had just made a fresh batch of Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, which just happens to be my favorite kind of cookie. Well, the cookies were truly the best I had ever had. Soft, yet chewy, chuck full of fruity goodness and nuts. I’ve never strayed from this recipe…it’s that good! I’ve swapped a few ingredients now and then because I didn’t have what was listed, but the cookies were still out of this world. So Gramma Berghoff, although you’ve left this world, your recipe will go on for generations to come. Thanks for sharing!
World’s Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Course: UncategorizedIngredients
2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup milk
2 cup oatmeal
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts, chopped
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream butter. Add sugar and eggs and beat well. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and milk, mixing well. Add the oatmeal, dates, raisins and nuts until well mixed. Drop by tablespoonful unto parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet and cool.
- Makes approximately 7 dozen cookies.
Notes
- I have substituted cranraisins for regular raisins on occasion and once added mini chocolate chip morsels instead of the nuts. Both were yummylicious. But I must say, the recipe as written is by far the best.
