Sour Cream Pound Cake

Out of all the cakes I have baked, pound cake is still my favorite. I have a few different recipes that I favor. This one is made with sour cream…and of course, BUTTER!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups sugar

  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)

  • 6 eggs

  • 3 cups all purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Powdered sugar for dusting top of cake (Optional)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease and flour 2 loaf pans
  • In mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda together.
  • Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternately with the sour cream, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour into the loaf pans and bake for 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool for at least 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
  • 10.When cool, dust with powdered sugar if desired.
