Ground Pork Taco Meat

This pork taco meat, made with ground pork, is sure to please everyone at your dinner table. It’s juicy, packed with flavor and is quick and easy to prepare. We enjoy it in both hard and soft taco shells and in a crispy taco bowl. Dress it up with your favorite toppings. We top our tacos with salsa, shredded lettuce, sour cream, shredded cheese and black olives and serve it with a side of refried beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 pound lean ground pork

  • 3/4 cup chopped onions

  • 1 Tablespoon finely minced garlic

  • 1 -16 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes

  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon oregano

  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne powder

  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro

Directions

  • Heat oil in skillet.
  • Saute the onion in the oil until soft.
  • Add the garlic and saute for another minute.
  • Add the pork and cook until meat is no longer pink.
  • Add the tomatoes, salt, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano and cayenne pepper.
  • Simmer for ten minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • Add the cilantro, stir until combined and serve in taco shells with your favorite toppings.
