Are you curious as to why someone would name this cake “Death by Chocolate”? I believe it’s because when you take a bite of this moist, chocolaty cake, you’ll think you died and went to heaven. No one will ever guess this was made with a boxed cake mix.
Death by Chocolate Cake

1 package chocolate cake mix
1 small box instant chocolate pudding
1 cup sour cream
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup water
2 eggs
12 ounce pkg chocolate chips
- Chocolate Glaze
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan.
- With an electric mixer, blend the cake mix, pudding, sour cream, oil, water and eggs together for 2 minutes.
- Add the chocolate chips and mix well.
- Pour batter in prepared pan
- Bake for 50 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool.
- Prepare the glaze
- Put the chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream in a microwave safe bowl
- Microwave the chips and whipping cream for 2 minutes
- Remove from microwave and stir until the the chocolate chips are thoroughly melted.
- Stir the chocolate glaze for 2 minutes and then spread over the cooled cake.
