Ingredients

  • Meatball Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground beef

  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs

  • 1/3 cup minced onion

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 egg

  • 1 Tablespoon parsley

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 bottle chili sauce ( I prefer Heinz brand)

  • 1 cup grape jelly

Directions

  • In a large bowl, mix all of the meatball ingredients together, mixing well.
  • Roll the meat into meatballs (about 1 Tablespoonful each).
  • Put 1/4 cup shortening in a skillet and brown until the meatballs are firm. Remove from skillet onto a paper towel to absorb the grease.
  • Put the chili sauce and grape jelly in a dutch oven and heat until the jelly dissolves.
  • Add the meatballs and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • I usually double this recipe when I bring it to a party. I usually transport them to the party in a small crockpot. This way they stay warm until it’s time to “dig in”. If you’re short on time, you can buy frozen mini meatballs and use those instead of making your own.
