Chocolate Walnut Puffs

These light, chewy and chocolaty cookies, loaded with bits of walnuts, are a tasty addition to your cookie recipe collection. I’ve been making them for over 40 years and everyone seems to enjoy them. One batch makes approximately 3 dozen cookies.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 2 egg whites

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

  • ½ teaspoon vinegar

  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler (over hot water)
  • In a medium sized bowl, beat the egg whites with the salt until foamy.
  • Gradually add in the sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
  • Mix in the vinegar and vanilla.
  • Fold in the melted chocolate and the walnuts.
  • Drop onto greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Immediately remove cookies from cookie sheet and cool on wire racks
