These light, chewy and chocolaty cookies, loaded with bits of walnuts, are a tasty addition to your cookie recipe collection. I’ve been making them for over 40 years and everyone seems to enjoy them. One batch makes approximately 3 dozen cookies.
Chocolate Walnut Puffs

6 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 egg whites
1/8 teaspoon salt
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon vinegar
¾ cup chopped walnuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Melt the chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler (over hot water)
- In a medium sized bowl, beat the egg whites with the salt until foamy.
- Gradually add in the sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
- Mix in the vinegar and vanilla.
- Fold in the melted chocolate and the walnuts.
- Drop onto greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Immediately remove cookies from cookie sheet and cool on wire racks
