Once upon a time, I decided to try to create a stir fry dish, using all of the things my family enjoys. The dish was a success! You can add or omit items according to your family’s taste. The sky’s the limit.

Carrot Cake
This carrot cake is so moist and chock full of fruity goodness, they’ll be coming back for seconds. You can substitute cranraisins for the regular raisins, use walnuts instead of the pecans and omit the coconut flakes if you prefer. The cream cheese frosting is a must as it compliments the cake in such a […]
Caramel Corn
A co-worker of mine shared this recipe with me several years ago. It’s easy to prepare and is so delicious, you’ll want to double the recipe. So Ellen M., where ever you might be, thanks for this excellent recipe.
Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake)
Want to impress your friends with a German sweet treat? This is the recipe that will do just that. The cake itself is a typical European style (slightly dry) cake. But don’t let that scare you. The cake is filled with a luscious, rich and creamy, almond custard filling. To top it off, the cake […]
Barbeque Sauce
A spunky little sauce that goes great over grilled chicken breasts, or on thinly sliced leftover pork or beef, for a quick BBQ style sandwich. We’ve even enjoyed this served with boiled shrimp. If you prefer a smokey flavored sauce, add liquid smoke.
Apple Bavarian Torte
Years ago I moved into an apartment building that also housed 5 couples that were senior citizens. Well, I had 2 young children so we had nothing in common, but the old folks sure loved to stop me in the hall and chat and fuss over my kids. I never knew my grandparents and these […]
Aloo Bonda (Indian Potato Fritter Appetizer & Date Sauce)
Years ago my good friend Prem, shared this appetizer recipe with me. She served this at every party and it was always a huge hit. It’s basically a breaded potato ball, deep fried and served with an amazing date sauce.
Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower & Potatoes)
For many years I worked with a lovely lady from India. Avani would bring a large bowl of this dish to work and we would snack on it for hours. She would make one “mild” bowl for folks like me, that don’t eat lots of hot peppers and one for the troopers , chuck full […]
African Chicken Stew
A special thanks to my friend Sandie for sharing this yummy recipe with me. After living in South Africa for several years, she returned, along with her in-laws recipes. This is one of my favorites.
Seven Layer Salad
I’ve been serving this crisp, refreshingly tasty salad for years on holidays such as Easter and Christmas. Best of all, it’s prepared the night before. There are never any leftovers. If you have a trifle bowl or flat bottomed clear glass bowl, I would recommend using that, as the layers are so pretty and festive looking.
